Description

We are currently conducting the Camp Kennedy Civic Education project in all four administrative regions of Uganda (Northern, Eastern, Western and Central) with funding from the US Mission in Uganda. The main objective of the project is to foster active, non-violent, citizen participation in governance processes in Uganda. A total of 395 eligible applications were received from interested students from across the country but a total of over 500 applications were submitted. Feminature Uganda together with the officials of the US Mission in Uganda vetted the applications and came up with a list of the final successful applicants who will be enrolled into the project. Camp Kennedy is a one year project comprising three major components including but not limited to Regional Training Camps, Debates and Community Civic Engagements. During Camp Kennedy, the participants will be trained using a Civic Education Curriculum Developed by Feminature Uganda basing on the legacy of the 35th President of the United States of America John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) and his call to citizen participation in the governance of their country. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with locally elected officials in their various regions and in September converge in Kampala for the final Summit where among others, they will give share and reports of the community civic activities/engagements.
