Background
Feminature Uganda is a women-led, not-for-profit, non-partisan organisation founded in 2016 to spearhead the socio-economic, political transformation of women and girls through initiatives that provide a platform of self-help for participatory advancement of households with women making informed decisions geared towards their own transformation. Feminature looks forward to a community where women, children and girls enjoy equal and equitable rights and opportunities with their male counterparts, regardless of their religious profession, race, social-economic standing or sexual orientation. Feminature Uganda is a legal entity formally registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau – URSB, under the Company’s Act No. 1 of 2012, Reg. No. 215037 as a Company Limited by Guarantee.
Geographical Coverage:
Feminature Uganda covers all the districts in the West Nile region including all municipalities. Being a metropolitan region neighbouring South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, our catchment area comprises about three million peoples. However, Feminature Uganda has a national jurisdiction for the implementation of its activities
Objectives:
- To create a society of women and girls that is financially liberated for stable and self reliant families and communities through increasing access to economic justice, markets and value chain production for the eradication of poverty.
- To support the growth of a happy and healthy generation of children through child friendly activities and services to ensure that their rights are upheld and respected.
- To uplift the standards of living of women, girls, children and youth through rights, education and socially acceptable means. d) To encourage, educate and empower women and girls on their rights, roles and responsibilities in decision making process and participation of women in the governance of the country.
- To train and promote the health and well-being of women and girls with skills and knowledge on how to live in an environment that is safe, healthy and free from disease.
- To promote peace, justice and security of women and their families through tailored peace building activities.
- To engender policies, laws, programmes, structures and processes in order to address the needs of women, girls and their families leading to the achievement of gender equity and equality.
- To develop a databank of information that is useful in advocacy and helpful in enriching the membership, women and other development partners in knowledge on women’s issues.
- To develop an all-inclusive system of management that fronts the issues of women and influence policy and decision-making on women’s issues.
- To liaise and work with other associations, Non-Governmental Organisations, Companies or any other legal entity that fronts issues affecting women and whose works agree with the mission, vision and objectives of this company.
- To take part in any other lawful activity whose end result helps to achieve the objectives, mission and vision of the organisation.
